WHAT-IF ANALYSIS
What-If Analysis is an inductive technique used to identify hazard causes that may not be revealed by more formal techniques such as PHA, FHA, FTA, FMEA, HAZOP, etc.
Originally applied to processes, What-If Analysis is now used to safety-related systems of all kinds when system safety engineers appreciate its contribution to system safety and have the time/money/authorization to enable What-If Analysis to be applied.
What-If Analysis is sometimes referred to as SWIFT (Structured What If Technique).
