PRELIMINARY HAZARD LIST (PHL)

The Preliminary Hazard List is called up by Task 201 of MIL-STD-882E.  The PHL provides a list of hazards that may require special safety design emphasis or hazardous areas where in-depth analyses need to be done.  It is compiled very early in the system acquisition life cycle to identify potentially hazardous areas on which to put management and safety analysis emphasis.  The PHL is the precursor to the Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA).

To this day, so many people are mistaken regarding what constitutes a PHL, and create more work for themselves.  If only they had contacted us !!!  HCRQ has been producing PHLs since the days of MIL-STD-882B - wow, that makes us feel old!!!

Contact us if you would like to purchase a PHL Data Item Description (DID).
You won't find a DID of this caliber elsewhere.

Perhaps you are curious when the PHL is generated.  There are 3 possibilities.

Something else that might perk your interest is that occasionally organizations, with which we have no contract (including government organizations), will show us a PHL from one of their suppliers and ask us for our opinion.

If you are interested in an excellent webinar which covers PHL, click here.  It is very popular.
