MIL-STD-882E In-Depth
|
|
This webinar has become very popular due to MIL-STD-882E being invoked by the U.S. military. It is a product of a detailed comparison between MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-882D, and MIL-STD-882C. As a result of our in-depth review of this standard, many organizations have benefited from attending it.
Is "E" 's terminology similar to "D" and "C"? Yes but not the same. In addition, "E" defines new terms (e.g., safety-significant, safety-related, LOR, SSSF, SCF, SCI, SRF, SRI, event risk).
Like "C", "E" is "task" driven with tasks covering the things you have come to know such as SSPP, PHL, PHA, SSHA, SHA, SAR, O&SHA, Hazard Tracking, etc. That said, one cannot state that the requirements for the "E" task = requirements for the "C" task with the same name.
There are:
- dilemmas (e.g., some things that are flat-out wrong),
- surprises (e.g., if you are a prime contractor, there are things that are ready to bite you; if you are the customer, there are aspects you will love; if you are a lawyer there are issues of interest), and
- confusion waiting (e.g., the quagmire in section 4.4.3).
There are new tasks: (e.g., Hazard Management Plan (HMP) , System Requirements Hazard Analysis (SRHA) , Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) , System-of-Systems (SoS) Hazard Analysis).
Attendees have included organizations such as BAE Systems, L3, Thales, U.S. Army, DSO National Laboratories (Singapore), Sikorsky Aircraft, and Lockheed Martin.
This webinar is intended for those who are already familiar with MIL-STD-882.

FEEDBACK
"Thanks for a great webinar." - U.S. Army
"Thanks for saving us the time and trouble of having to do this ourselves and probably learning the hard way."
"Had I not attended this webinar, I would have under-estimated the system safety effort in our next proposal".
"Oh, crap! I am glad I attended." - L3 Attendee
"I don't know why this class is not packed. People are in for a rude awakening."
"Very illuminating. I particularly liked the discussion of 882E's implicit requirements."
"If we had simply read "E", instead of attending your webinar, we would not have fully appreciated its impact on us."
