At this course, each attendee is equipped with:
- a computer networked to a printer, and
- FTA software (CAFTA).
Theory is one thing. Samples help. Paper exercises go one step further but ... there is no substitute for hands-on training. You want to return to work and start producing professional FTAs immediately and this means more than just producing the trees themselves.
FTA can imply different things to different people as reflected by the wide range of depths of analysis that exist.
- event representation,
- quantitative analysis,
- fault tree verification,
- minimal cut set generation, and analysis,
- common mode analysis, and
- supporting material
varies dramatically as does fault tree quality.
What criteria should be applied to determine whether to accept or reject fault tree analyses? There are 20 attributes to look for. In a recent survey most fault tree analysts did not come close to answering this question. If you work for government branches (e.g., FAA, FDA, FRA, DOD, and MOD), clients, auditors, or system integrators, and are a reviewer of contract deliverables, you should know this. This checklist is included in this course.
We will show you how to produce
- high quality FTAs,
- logically structured FTAs,
- more accurate FTAs,
- traceable FTAs, and
- more economical FTAs.
This is NOT a course whose purpose it is to advertise a particular FTA tool.
