We have encountered many companies that either have no Corporate Safety Policy or a very poor one.

The Corporate Safety Policy is not just a "nice to have".  It is an essential corporate document. As any legal council will advise you, the Corporate Safety Policy is not only for your clients' benefit - it is also for your protection.

In order to achieve safety, commitment by management is crucial.  A Corporate Safety Policy conveys the importance of safety efforts both internally within the company as well as externally to clients and safety authorities.

A Corporate Safety Policy is much more than a sentence or a paragraph in a marketing brochure; it contains specific elements, details and commitments.  The Corporate Safety Policy is a statement of intention, philosophy, and belief that provides guidance to achieve stated safety goals.  Not only does the Corporate Safety Policy cover policy and organization, but it also contains detailed rules and procedures.

The Corporate Safety Policy must not only be defined but enforced as well.

The Corporate Safety Policy is often referred to in the System Safety Management Plan.
