What-If Analysis
What-If Analysis is an inductive technique used to identify
hazard causes that may not be revealed by more formal techniques such as PHA,
FHA, FTA,
FMEA, HAZOP, etc.
Originally applied to processes, this technique is now used to safety-related systems of all
kinds when system safety engineers appreciate its contribution to system safety and have the
time/money/authorization to enable it to be applied.
